A-Trek

The A-trek is not a real trek, but more of a joke that I came up with after spending a few weeks in el Chalten, since some of the main trails look like an A.

Boy it was nice down there. Free camping in the woods. Cheap bread and cheese, world class hiking. I spent about two weeks there and was overall lucky with the weather. I got to enjoy some beautiful sunsets, got to pass mate around with Argentines, got to hitchhike, and got to juggle with people from all over the world. In addition to the Vuelta de Huemul and the main trails, I climbed Cerro Madsen a few days after a snow storm, and had the pleasure of catching the sunrise from Laguna Sucio, Laguna de los Tres and Lomo del Pliegue Tumbado. El Chalten’s positions within walking distance of so much great hiking, definitely made me rethink how I thought of the nexus of recreation and transportation. Better yet, most people arrived by bus, bike or thumb.
