Ausungate Trek

After my three beautiful hikes so far in Peru, I had one more planned before heading south to Chile. The Ausungate trek is a beautiful loop around Mt. Ausungate. The day and a half 30 mile trip packed a punch, complete with over 1,000 alpacas, beautiful lakes, mountain views and another harrowing mid afternoon storm. During the storm I hid in a seasonal shed while the rain abated. I saw only. a few other hikers on the trip, all towards the very end.
