In November 2019, I hiked from Berkeley to Antioch, roughly following the American Discovery Trail. Aside from a few miles on pavement in Berkeley, Antioch and Walnut Creek, this hike was mostly on good quality trail. I would highly recommend this hike to anyone in the Bay Area.
The hike started out in Tilden, and then I got to EBMUD land, Clax joined me in Walnut Creek, and we found a camp spot in the hills overlooking the Diablo Valley. The next day on Mt. Diablo and through Black Diamond Mines was idyllic hiking. Mt. Diablo has so many beautiful trails, its almost unbelievable. Before we knew it we were walking the last few miles to Antioch BART.
