The California Zephyr was the first long distance Amtrak Train I rode, and it got me excited to ride more. It is widely considered the prettiest train in the Amtrak system. The California Zephyr passes through beautiful scenery, including crossing the Sierra Nevada at Donner pass, and some very scenic segments through the Rocky Mountains and along the Colorado River.
I have ridden the train in two segments, from Denver to Reno and from Reno to Emeryville. Below are some pictures from some of my favorite parts from east to west.
