I was lucky to get another short trek in on my way hitchhiking down the Carretera Austral. I set out late in the afternoon one day, and began to hike for the first camp. A very pleasant walk through forests and meadows got me there around last light.

I had planned to finish the hike the next day, but a very strong wind lead to a bit of a scary descent down a snowfield off the first pass. At multiple points, I was almost blown over. I decided to call it after a short day, setting up camp at 11am and reading in my tarp for the rest of the day. I enjoyed a peaceful rest day and finished the hike with better weather the next day. After that, I continued hitching south on the Carretera Austral.
