Highland

I got off work around 4:30 and headed north towards Ebbets Pass. I loaded up on food at the grocery store so that I could do some trail magic. I got to the pass an hour before sunset, but unfortunately did not see any hikers.

The next day I set off for Highland Peak, the miles on the PCT went quickly, and soon I was climbing steeply off trail towards the peak. I made good time, but the last mile was quite slow. The wind was very strong it nearly knocked me off my feet. The views of the northern Sierra were incredible. The downhill went much more quickly and soon I was back on the PCT. I found a group of six hikers having lunch. Phew! All the food I bought won’t be going to waste after all. “Trail magic in two miles” I told them, and I jogged down the trail back to my car.

I began cooking quesadillas at a furious pace. By the time the group arrived, I had multiple quesadillas ready along with watermelon, chocolate milk, supplements, sauteed vegetables and an assortment of other foods. I stayed for an hour and gave trail magic to eight hikers in total, and then it was time to go, down to the west side in Bear Valley to meet my family for the weekend.
