Hitchhiking

I keep track of my hitches in a spreadsheet. I have over 500 hitches totaling around 20,000 miles. I have hitchhiked extensively in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Chile. I have have hitchhiked at least once in eight countries and 30 states.

On many trips hitchhiking is a means to an end: get back to the car, get back to the bus, but on some it is the goal of the trip itself. Below are some trip write-ups and some tips on how to hitchhike:
