The Pacific Surfliner is one of the most scenic trains in the United States, for much of its route, it hugs the coast, and passengers can enjoy whitewater views. In addition, there are beautiful views of the Southern California mountains as well. I would highly recommend this route. Pictures from various trips on the line below:
