South Hayward BART to Fremont BART

I had a small gap in my ridge trail path from South Hayward Bart to Fremont Bart. I had originally planned to wait until the new connector trail was open. After many years of waiting, it seemed the project may never get built. Some arcane dispute with the California Public Utilities Commission over a railroad crossing, delayed the opening. The railroad crossing in question is a twice a week tourist train that goes very slowly. Finally, I decided to just run the section, mostly on Mission Blvd.

A few days before Christmas 2025, I had a test to take in Milpitas, so I figured I would attempt this section after the test. I parked my car at the Vallejo Mill, and ran down to Fremont Bart. I took Bart two stops north, and ran back to my car.

The run was mostly along traffic clogged Mission Blvd, but there was a nice respite in Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Park midway through the run.
